Nikki and I headed on over to Somers Point, an older community along the Jersey Shore, so we could visit The Grilled Cheese and Crabcake Company. Not only did we hear that they had a build-your-own Mac and Cheese offering, but they were also apparently featured on Guy Fieri's "Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives," which is usually a good sign for comfort food. The restaurant had a wide array of toppings and mix-ins that you could add to a base Mac, and all of those additions looked good!

I ordered my Mac with bacon and a deluxe crabcake added, and Nikki got hers "angry" (with pickled jalapeños and sriracha) and crab meat mixed in. And I have to say, both dishes were phenominal! The noodles were shell pasta (not macaroni) and the cheese sauce was cheesy, and a perfectly gooey consistency. I don't know which cheeses were in use: when I asked, the waitress could only respond with "all of them, mixed together" which wasn't super helpful. But whatever those cheeses were, they were great! Also, the crabcake that I got on mine was a delight, with just the perfect crust, and quality crabmeat throughout.

Nikki's dish, with sriracha, pickled jalapeños, and a generous helping of crab meat.

So yeah, if you are in the mood for Mac and Cheese with a bit more customizability, you should check this place out!
